S.T.E.M. is a curriculum based on educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — Prevail Prototypes apply a hands-on approach. Rather than teach the five disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, S.T.E.M. integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.

3D Printing

3D printing allows you to quickly and easily take a physical object from a computer model, literally printing the part as it goes. This method allows for an easy and cheap way to prototype your parts before machining or molding. Learn how to import, prepare, and print your three-dimensional (3D) parts using the free educational software. In the class, we also cover the hardware of the 3D printer, software parameters, and troubleshooting for standard personal printers. By the end of the session, you will have all the information and knowledge necessary to prepare a print and create your own models. Students will also receive a 3D-printed object from our selection of models.

3D Design

3D modeling (or three-dimensional modeling) is the process of developing a mathematical representation of any surface of an object (either inanimate or living) in three dimensions via specialized software. The model can be physically printed using 3D printing devices.

This course takes you through this industry-leading design system's interface, tools, and key processes. The main techniques are sketching, part modeling, assembly building, and drawing. Create a sketch; turn the sketch into a 3D part with Extrude, Revolve, and Loft commands; combine parts into assemblies; and document your designs. Each method works in conjunction with the others, allowing you to create 3D-ready parts and assemblies.

Virtual Reality

Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects. Arduino consists of a physical programmable circuit board (microcontroller) and hardware. In this class, you will learn how to use Arduino to run simple tasks. We will cover programming simple electronics such as switches, dials, lights, and other sensors. The course will switch between instruction, hands-on, and some free time. All of our S.T.E.A.M. courses are entirely customizable for our customer's needs. Along with basic Arduino, we teach classes geared toward completing specific projects. Our educational kits help beginners to get hands-on experience using Arduino programming and electronics assembly to build robotic cars, dogs, and more!

Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds.

In this course, students will take 360-degree video footage and learn how to turn it into a VR experience. Students will use Unity 3D software to take their footage and format it to run off Google Cardboard's open-source hardware/ software. Students can show family and friends their one-of-a-kind video experience.
